drink more beer – save the homeless

Saturday, June 29th, 2013

Due to the incessant noises of the powerful Oceanside Homeless Advisory Committee that not enough was being done for the exploding homeless population in the city, harbor management introduced a new amenity: the Rapid Donation Kiosk.

No more cashing-in empty beer cans and bringing the proceeds to Brother Benno’s.  No need to cruise Charity Navigator or Give Well to weed out the bad apples. Dropping a can in one of the automatic kiosks ensures your donation is harvested by those who need it, when they need it, while cutting out the middleman.

If you thought the harbor management policy (1P4:9) of allowing the homeless to camp out on harbor streets for years on end and use your showers for free when you’re not looking was enough – well, it isn’t. In this economy more resources need to be shared, and as the City of Oceanside Homeless Shelter is running at full capacity, Oceanside Harbor has been sourced to accommodate the overflow.

Who among you wouldn’t open other people’s homes to those in need, if you got paid to do it?

Kiosks brought to you by the folks at Sea Star Sportfishing, and the City employees who just can’t refuse an offer from the commercial  fishing lobby. (FYI – so far, Boom Dock’s kneecaps are intact.)

old looking boat arrives

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

The Hawaiian Chieftain, an old boat interpretation, arrived in Oceanside Harbor round about tea time today, under heavy police guard. Apparently any issues were cleared up in the outer basin, as the boat was allowed to dock without further interference. Crowds of crazed onlookers immortalized the event with various silicon based devices. Thanks to a Sneakaboards regular who wishes to remain anonymous, we have moving pictures to share.

Citizen reporter contributions are always welcome and hugely appreciated, as we believe in the betterment of the Oside Harbor population. We may have been accused of cowardice by the Snooze News,  but we have honor and will not betray our sources.
